I am a Senior Applied Econometrician at the European Commission – Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra, Italy.
My research focuses on Counterfactual Impact Evaluation, Labour, Education & Health Economics and the Economics of Science. I mainly work with administrative data and causal inference methods to study how reforms, incentives and policies shape individual, firm and organisational behaviours. On these topics I have published in various journals, including Econometrica, The Review of Economics and Statistics and The Journal of the Royal Statistical Society (Series A).
Since 2012, I am also Adjunct Professor of Statistical Modeling, Data Mining & Machine Learning at the University of Milan-Bicocca.
My scientific work mainly adopts credible causal identification - natural experiments and quasi-experimental designs - with administrative data from European institutions and national registries (e.g. IT, ES, NL) to study impact evaluation of EU and national policies.
